WWE star Undertaker ‘could not remember own name or match’ with Brock Lesnar due to concussion at WrestleMania 30
UNDERTAKER has revealed he could not even remember his name due to concussion he suffered during his WrestleMania 30 defeat to Brock Lesnar.
The WWE legend famously lost his undefeated streak to The Beast on April 6, 2014 in New Orleans.
But the 54-year-old Dead Man, real name Mark Calaway, has now admitted the whole night was a blur after being hospitalised during the match.
Speaking today on Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions on the WWE Network, ‘Taker said: “The thing with this match, and not everybody knows, somewhere within in the first five minutes I get concussed.
“I don’t even remember this night. I’ve watched it back now and obviously know, but my last memory that I can definitely tell you happened at about 3:30 in the afternoon when my wife came backstage and we had a conversation.
“That’s the last thing I remember on my own of that day.”
He continued: “At this point in my career, there is a huge process of me getting ready between the stretching, visiting the doctors, doing everything I have to do to get myself ready to go out and perform.
“We are taking about an hour-and-a-half or two hour process that’s just completely gone.
I don’t even remember this night. I’ve watched it back now and obviously know, but my last memory that I can definitely tell you happened at about 3:30 in the afternoon when my wife came backstage and we had a conversation
“My memory picks up, I wanna say, 4:30 or five in the morning when I’m in the hospital where they are coming to check on me every five minutes asking me my name and I’ve got no clue.
“I walked back and went through gorilla, sat down and then next thing I remember is I’m in the hospital and there are doctors and nurses coming in every five minutes. The only thing I remembered was my wife’s first name.
“It got to the point where they asked me where I was at and I had no clue, no idea when my birthday was, so they leave and I call over ‘Babe, babe… where am I?’
“And she’s like ‘I’m not going to cheat for you on this. You’ve gotta remember it on your own.’ And I’m getting hot at her because she won’t tell me where the hell I’m at and I’ve got no clue.”
Undertaker, who last fought alongside Roman Reigns to defeat Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre at Extreme Rules in June, added: “I’ve watched it back like 10/15 times and I can’t pick out where it happened.
“It was nothing Brock did, and he didn’t know I was concussed and I kept taking belly-to-back suplexes, that’s not on him because I was still moving. But when I watch it I can tell that I’m lethargic, not moving and thinking like I would be normally.”

And he also revealed how the incident ruined his in-ring confidence, despite his illustrious career beforehand.
Undertaker said: “That screwed up my confidence. You’d think after a 25-year plus career where you’ve seen every situation, you don’t get shook up. That is a false belief.
“Even though I trained and was in shape, I don’t think my body was ready for the trauma. So the simplest of bumps, the only thing I can figure, it rung my bell.
“It ate my up for a while. But I was like no, I’m not going to go out in my last match and not be able to remember it.”
